Deep Tissue
Deep tissue can be incorporated into any massage, however, is most often combined with Swedish. This is very intense, slow work with the intention of breaking up "adhesions", commonly referred to as "knots", which is tissue that has become stuck to other tissue. This can be a response to stress, repetitive motion, over exertion, or injury. This technique is extremely effective in restoring motion and vibrancy to tense chronically pained muscles by releasing toxins at very deep levels. This process can also be used to break up scar tissue. Believe it or not, the scars actually melt away! Deep tissue techniques often include a degree of "therapeutic pain", and can leave you sore for a day or two, however, the over-all benefits are huge and you will feel noticeably better for much longer after receiving this technique. Because there are so many toxins released into the body from deep tissue work, it is very important to drink a lot of water for the following 48 hours to flush your system.
